One-liner

Local Kin is a Rexburg-born, Salt Lake City six-piece making communal, mountain-town folk built to be stomped and hollered along to — big choruses, tight three-part harmonies, in the lane of Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, and Caamp.

Bio

Local Kin is a Rexburg, Idaho–born folk band, based in Salt Lake City. Since winning Velour’s Battle of the Bands — the same competition previously won by Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees, The Aces, and The Backseat Lovers — they have risen as “one of the leaders of the resurging roots-rock movement in the Utah music scene.” This six-piece delivers tight three-part harmonies and high-energy stomp-and-holler folk that’s as down-to-earth as it is electrifying. The songs are jubilant, full of drama, tension, and cinematic storytelling — music that makes you want to run through a field. Not in a fairytale, frolicking kind of way. In a roll-up-your-jeans-and-jump-in-every-mud-puddle kind of way.
